Arizona Cardinals news and history:
The
Arizona Cardinals had great teams during the 1920s, 1940s, and 1970s,
with a total of two NFL titles and four division crowns during those
decades. Because the first Super Bowl was not played until 1967,
however, the Cardinals have never played in it. The team's championship
lineup of 1947 starred the famed Dream Backfield of quarterback Paul
Christman, fullback Pat Harder, and halfbacks Elmer Angsman and Charley
Trippi. In the 1970s quarterback Jim Hart control one of the NFL's best
offenses.
In 1920 the Chicago Cardinals became charter members
of the American Professional Football League, the NFL's predecessor.
The Cardinals won their first NFL crown in 1925 under the direction of
coach Norman Barry.
Sun Devil Stadium is the home of the Arizona Cardinals.
